Co-founder of Apple Inc., Steve Jobs, died on Wednesday, aged 56, RIA Novosti reports.
Steve Jobs died of prostate cancer. He learned about his illness in 2003 and underwent successful surgery in 2004. Apple set his black and white photo on the homepage of the company and his biography of 1955-2011.
Speculation around Jobs reached its peak after Bloomberg accidently published an obituary of the Apple head. Steve Jobs went for a 6-month vacation in January 2009. Doctors discovered he had liver cancer. After surgery he returned to continue supervision of the company at home.
Tim Cook replaced Jobs in August.
His death coincided with the presentation of a new iPhone in Cupertino on Wednesday. Traders were reducing the price for shares due to a sceptical attitude towards the new product.
US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle expressed their condolences over the death of Jobs.
Russian Presidential Advisor Arkady Dvorkovich believes that Jobs did a lot in his life, he said on Twitter. He said that the iPod, iPhone and iPad are some of his best works.
