Iran speaks for expansion of railway cooperation with Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan

The Director General of the Iranian Railways Company, Abdolali Saheb Mohammadi, met Turkmen Railway Minister Deryaguly Muhammetgulyev and spoke out for expansion of cooperation between Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan in railway traffic, within the framework of the International Transport Corridor “North-South”, Iran News reports.


Mohammadi underlined expansion of transit freighting between Iran and CIS states and noted their benefits for Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.


The minister pointed out the transit potential of the railway station in Serakhs. It may be used for up to 7 million tons of cargo freighting between Iran and Turkmenistan.


Muhammetgulyev emphasized the importance of railway cooperation and the need for its expansion. He made particular mention of the significance of the project for the three states and stated that its realization requires great efforts.
