Azerbaijani rescuers continue arriving in Turkey

A second plane from Azerbaijan has arrived in Van to help the earthquake-struck population.


Azerbaijani rescuers are operating in ten districts. They have found one woman, a man aged 45-50. A rescue group is trying to save a man calling for help from a damaged building.


An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 happened in south-eastern Turkey at 15.41. Its center was 42 km away from Van. Earthquakes were detected in Diyarbakyr, Batman, Shyrnak, Mush, Erzurum, Bingul, Bitlis, Sirt and Mardin.


About a thousand of people may be dead. Over 318 are reportedly dead.


The Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan says that quakes with a magnitude of 3.0-3.5 were registered at the Sadaraksky, Sharursky and Babeksky Districts of the Nakhchyvan Autonomy and Nakhchyvan. No damage was registered in Azerbaijan.
