Over 1.4 tons of narcotics confiscated in North Caucasus

The drug control services of the North Caucasus Federal District confiscated about 1.4 tons of narcotics in the first nine months of 2011, head of the State Drug Control Committee of the district Igor Gorkov said, RIA Novosti reports.


1.14 tons of drugs are marijuana. The police also confiscated 10 kg of heroin, 2.2 kg of opium, 23 kg of hashish, 152 kg of poppy and 6 kg of desomorphine. Most of the heroin was found in Ingushetia, most of the desomorphine – in Chechnya and Dagestan.
