The former Orthodox Christian cathedral of St. Sophia in Istanbul is going to become a Mosque, Trend reports on Monday.
The cathedral was build in 537 A.D. and in 1453, after the Ottoman Sultan Mehmet II captured Constantinople, it was turned into a Mosque. After the Kemelist revolution of 1935 St. Sophia became a museum.
Eventually the Turkish authorities decided that the cathedral should become a Mosque again. The announcement was made by the Turkish vice-premier.
