New earthquake in Turkey

Seven people died in ruins of buildings after two new earthquakes hit Turkey's Van Province. 23 people were rescued, Trend reports on Thursday.


Interior Minister Besir Atalay said that 25 buildings collapsed, 22 of them were empty. Rescuers are continuing to search for survivors in three other houses.


Two earthquakes happened in the province with a magnitude of 5.6 and 4.5 on Wednesday night. The epicenter was in the town of Edremit.


Some buildings which were damaged in the earthquake on October 23 collapsed, including a school and a hotel. There were people in the hotel.


The DHA says a man died and 50 were injured in the panic following the quake. People jumped from windows and balconies.


Over 600 people died in the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Van Province on October 23.
