Federal status of Sochi being discussed

The Communist Party of Russia does not supported the proposal of the
Liberal Democratic Party to make the Olympic City of Sochi a city of
federal significance, announced the Communist' leader Gennadii Zuganov
on Friday, reports RIA Novosti.
The leader of the Liberal-Democratic party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky,
believes that the dependence of Sochi on any region, in particular
Krasnodar, is an obstacle to the development of the city, which is
considered to be the main resort center of Russia and will host the
2014 Winter Olympics.
Zuganov said that Sochi need supplies to be attractive for tourists
and the regional government can provide them more successfully than
the federal one.
