The number of earthquake victims in the Turkish province of Van rose up to 10
people, ITAR-TASS reported. According to the Office of Emergency
Situations of the Government, 27 people were found alive in the
rubble.
Among the victims is Japanese Miyuki Conn, who came to
Van with a group of specialists to help in the aftermath of the
devastating earthquake of October 23.
The Hotel "Bayram" in the county Edremit was destroyed on Wednesday
evening by due to the earthquake of a magnitude of 5.6. It hosted
mostly local journalists and medical and emergency organizations. So
far there is no information on the fate of the two correspondents of
"Dogan", who at the time of collapse were in the hotel lobby, making a
report on the situation in the province.
