About a thousand people have arrived at the Znamenskoye Village of the Nadterechny District of Chechnya to commemorate poet Ruslan Akhtakhanov, who was killed in Moscow on Tuesday evening, RIA Novosti reports.
Akhtakhanov was shot in northern Moscow on November 15 at 23.50 when he got out of his car to walk home.
Akhtakhanov’s daughter has left Norway to arrive at the funeral, a relative says.
Ruslan Abuyevich Akhtakhanov was a deputy head of the Modern Humanitarian Academy, Director General of the development center of the academy’s access for extreme situations. He was director general of an education center of the academy.
Akhtakhanov mainly wrote about the Chechen people in his verses. The Russian Writers’ Union accepted him as a member unanimously in June 2009 after the release of his collection of verses “I am proud of Chechnya, that gave the world heroes”.
