Qabala hosts international ecological camp

Qabala is hosting an International Camp of Young Environmentalists within the framework of the International Dialogue for Environmental Action (IDEA), which closes on November 26, 1news.az reports.


The IDEA has been in force since July 12, 2011, initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the heydar Aliyev Fund and head of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia. The goalis to unite young people, inform them and promote harmony with nature.


The event will be highlighted by Leyla Aliyeva, Guseyngulu Bagirov, Azerbaijani Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources, Azad Ragimov, Minister for Youth and Sports, Fikret Achkura, UN coordinator and representative of the UN Development Program in Azerbaijan, Rafig Huseinzade, SOCAR Vice-President for Ecology, Lisa Bardwell, President and Executive Director of the Earth Force Organization (USA), Omar Faruk,Director of the EcoMuslim Organization (UK). They will discuss topical ecological problems and present reports.


Vugar Allahverdiyev, an advisor from the UNDP for energy and ecology in Azerbaijan, Lisa Bardwell, Piero Pelizado (Italy), head of the Kyoto Club section for international cooperation, Ogtay Mamedov, head of the department for projects and PR of the Təmiz Şəhər, Wallace Ross Marshal, head of the National Service for Ecology of England, Ruslan Aliyev, head of the section for natural resources and ecology of the MGIMO, Jerome Glenn, co-founder and director of the Millenium Project, will take part as guests.


The framework of the IDEA campaign had signing of an understanding memorandum between the Heydar Aliyev Fund and the UN Development Program on October 21 for mobilization of Azerbaijani youth for the Rio+20 conference in 2012. The IDEA ecological program announced November 2011 as a month of ecology.
