The Tver Court of Moscow has ordered the arrest of businessman Victor Baturin on fraud charges, judge Alexey Pravoruchko said, Interfax reports.
The businessman's lawyer, Igor Shabanov, earlier offered bail of 10.8 million rubles.
Baturin is suspected of presenting a false bank bill at the Inteco office on Monday worth 10.8 million rubles. The staff called police and Baturin was arrested. The investigation authorities will insist on house arrest for Baturin.
Izvestia reported that Baturin is suspected in sales of fake bank bills of Inteco-Agro and Inteco worth over 5.7 billion rubles. A case against Baturin was initiated in spring. The investigation says Baturin wanted to sell a British investor two fake bank bills of Inteco and Inteco-Agro for 5.5 billion rubles. One bank bill was worth over 250 million rubles and was offered to Rosagroleasing.
Baturin's PR director, Anna Imerlin, says the case may have been initiated due to links with his his sister Yelena Baturina's business, the wife of Moscow's ex-mayor.
Evidence was also filed on Tuesday for Baturin insulting the police. He will be fined and will carry out compulsory work.
The Presnensky Court of Moscow sentenced Baturin to 3 years imprisonment on 6 June 2011 for selling space in the center of Moscow. He was fined 300,000 rubles.
