Krasnodar will construct a memorial in honor of soldiers and
those killed during the military conflict in Chechnya. This was
reported at a rally in memory of the fallen fighting in the Chechen
Republic, which was held in the capital of the Kuban, reports portal
This event was attended by the head of Krasnodar, Vladimir Evlanov,
veterans of military operations in Chechnya, the commander of the
group "North West" of combined forces in Chechnya during the years
1994 -1996, Konstantin Pulikovsky, deputy commander of Brigade 47 of
separate operations of the Armed Forces colonel Aleksandr Simonenko,
representatives of public organizations, etc..
"Our city is famous for martial traditions. We will continue to
support veterans, members of local wars, widows. Many thanks to all
social patriotic organizations, veterans of those event for the great
educational work that you organize with the youth of the city", said
Vladimir Evlanov, whose words are quoted by the official website of
the Mayor.
He noted that the memorial in memory of those killed in Chechnya will
be erected in Chistyakovskaya grove. The construction will start in
2011.
Over two thousand inhabitants of the Kuban participated in military
battles in Chechnya during two military campaigns, hundreds of them
were disabled and 89 died.
