The situation in the Mangistau Region in the western part of Kazakhstan, where mass disorders have occurred, resulting in murders, remains stable, the petroleum staff are at work, ITAR-TASS reports.
Ozenmunaygaz and Karazhanbasmunay staff are at work. There were earlier fears that the disorders would caused staff to stay at home. Only 9 people were caught violating the curfew in Janaozen. They returned home.
The police continue persecution of the most active people involved in disorders and marauding.
Kazakhstan experienced mass disorders in Janaozen. 14 people died in Janaozen and one at the Shetpe Station, when protesters blocked the railway and started looting in the town. The police used firearms. Over 70 people were detained for disorders, 8 of whom were arrested. Four people were detained in Shetpe.
