December, 31 is celebrated as the Solidarity Day of the World Azerbaijanis every yea since 1993. Since 1993, Dec. 31 is declared as the Solidarity Day of the World Azerbaijanis in accordance with the Azerbaijani President's decree. Dozens of millions of the Azerbaijani live in various countries the world today. Russia has the largest Azerbaijani diaspora, a lot of Azerbaijani live in CIS countries, US, Germany, Iran and Turkey.
In his address, the President of Azerbaijani Republic, Ilham Aliev, noted that Azerbaijani all over the world become more and more consolidated, and that is a very positive trend.
This year the country marked the remarkable date - the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan's independence. This day is important in terms of Azerbaijan's statehood and unity of the Azerbaijanis throughout the world.
Azerbaijan is an independent and sovereign state since Oct. 18, 1991 and this day is marked as a holiday.
