Trans-Caucasian arterial is closed for the traffic because of threat of avalanching of sleet – reports RIA Novosti quoting the press service of the Main Governance of EMERCOM of Russia on North Ossetia.
“The decision of governmental commission on emergency situations about the closing of the motorway form 3 am Moscow time until further notice was made for the reason of recommendation of anti-avalanche service of Russian meteorology centre” – said the Head of press service Juliya Starchenko.
According to her words the worsening of avalanche dangerous situation is caused by sharp warming in high mountains which is accompanied by rain.
“On the slopes adjoining the high mountain section of Transkam the height of snow cover achieves now 68 centimetres. In the region of Roksky pass the temperature of the air is above zero, the rain doesn’t finish which creates ideal conditions for formatting of avalanches and avalanching which are the most dangerous for the participants of road traffic” – commented the situation Starchenko.
Strength and resources of Republican EMERCOM, of road and anti-avalanche services are brought to perfect ready – was added in the press service.
