Water treatment facilities opened in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani Ministry for Ecology and Natural Resources has held talks on water treatment facilities, Day.az reports.188 water treatment facilities were opened at villages along the rivers Kura and Araz, Azerbaijani Ministry for Ecology and Natural Resources Huseingulu Bagirov said. 23 million manates were spent for construction of the facilities. They process 100 liters of water per second. Most of them need reconstruction.The Public Association for Protection of Ecology “Myukhit” says that information on state of water treatment facilities is untrue. Poor condition of certain facilities may be a reason of low-quality maintenance, lack of electricity, lack of water, Ramig Ashrafov, Deputy Director of the center for control and maintenance of ecological standards of drinking water on Rivers Kura and Araz and other villages of the Ministry for Ecology and Natural Resources, explains.He clarified that water is pumped with delays at 63 facilities, there is lack of electricity at 54 facilities, damaging pumps. Ashrafov reminded that the facilities are under responsibility of local municipalities.Chairman of Myukhit, Aziz Azeri, said that his association has not concluded monitoring of water treatment facilities. He expressed willingness to continue cooperating with the ministry in the future. Azeri added that there is need for ecological enlightenment in regions.
