Baku has concluded construction of the roof of the multifunctional arena Baku Crystal Hall, a building which may be used to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
Half of the roof was built at the end of 2011, the left side was completed on Monday. Each half of the roof weighs 1200 tons. About 500 people are involved in construction.
The Baku Crystal Hall sports complex is located at the State Flag Square. Its construction started in September 2011 and is planned to end in April 2012. It may hold up to 25,000 people.
The tender of the State Committee for Property Affairs of Azerbaijan to construct the sports and concert complex was won by ALPINE Bau Deutschland AG (Germany).
ALPINE Bau Deutschland is a 100% subsidiary of the ALPINE Bau Group. International GmbH, Nüssli AG and Basler & Hofmann AG (Switzerland), GmbH & Co. KG and SSF Ingenieure AG are partners of ALPINE Bau Deutschland AG in realizing the project.
