Putin becomes politician of 2011 – center for public opinion

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin became the number one politician in 2011, according to publications of the All-Russia Public Opinion Research Center on Tuesday, RIA Novosti reports.

Putin got 38% of vote, followed by President Dmitry Medvedev (19%), LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovski (8%).

Head of the CPRF Gennady Zyuganov got 7% of vote, a 5% improvement compared with the previous year. Sergey Mironov, leader of Fair Russia, and billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov got 5% of vote. Grigory Yavlinsky, Alexey Kudrin and Sergey Sobyanin got 1% of vote each. About a third of questioned people (35%) could not name the politician of the year.

Football player Andrey Arshavin became the sportsman of the year for the fourth time. Sergey Bezrukov – actor of the year, Boris Akunin and Darya Dontsova – writers of the year, Philipp Kirkorov – musician of the year for the second time. The Pust Govoryat (Let them Talk) show became the best show for the third time. Svaty became the best TV series. The new film “Visotsky. Thank You for Being Alive” was the film of the year.

The All-Russia Public Opinion Research Center held social polls on December 24-25, 2011. Some 1600 people from 138 urban areas in 46 regions, territories and republics of Russia were questioned. The margin of error is no higher than 3.4%.
