Over 200 injured in Iran earthquake

230 people were injured in an earthquake in Iran, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier reports said 36 were injured.

The City of Nishapur in the north-eastern part of Iran was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6. The US Geological Survey says that the earthquake center was 11 km north-east of Nishapur 10.5 km deep.

Iran is one of the top 10 seismologically-risky places of the world. An earthquake with a magnitude of over 7.0 happens once in every ten years. The earthquake in Bam, south-east of Iran, in December 2003 killed over 31,000 people and injured about 42,000. The Ancient City of Bam and its fortress were destroyed.
