Former Georgian President Eduard Shevarnadze is marking his 84th birthday, Georgia Online reports.
His assistant Marina Davitashvili said that ex-president is working on a book based on interviews and materials that have not been included in the previous book.
Shevarnadze became First Secretary of the Georgian Communist Party in 1973. He entered the Political Bureau of in Moscow in 1985, becoming the Foreign Minister during Mikhail Gorbachev’s rule. He resigned in 1991. He returned to Tbilisi in 1992, after the fall of President Zviad Gamsakhurdia, as a member of the Military Council. He later became an MP. Shevarnadze resigned in 2003 after the Rose Revolution. He has a residence in Krtsanisi.
