Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachyov urged animal-breeders to replace pigs with other animals. A regional program was developed to promote development of farms. A program has been approved by the Agriculture Ministry to prevent swine flu. A total of over 1 billion rubles will be issued in 3-4 years.
Tkachyov said that there should be no major farms that lack the sanitary-veterinary protection of grade 3 and 4.
Yuga.ru reports that the African swine flu was registered after at the farm of S. Reva in the Poltavskaya Village of Krasnoarmeysky District after 10 sample on January 26. It had 1451 pigs. 173 pigs are at a risk zone. The Krasnoarmeysky District has 17,500 pigs, 2,200 pigs belonging to individuals.
RIA Novosti said that about 1,500 pigs were killed on January 27. 50 additional control posts will operate 24 hours a day, assisted by police officers, veterinarians and specialists of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance.
Interfax reports that quarantine may be imposed in Krasnodar Territory, deputy head of Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Alexey Saurin, said in Kazan on Friday.
