The Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies in Chechnya warns locals about security measures that need to be taken to withstand the cold weather, the government’s website says.
People were recommended to stay home and not allow their children and home animals to come out without need.
No cases of freezing injuries have been registered in Chechnya. The Russian Ministry for Emergencies said that cold weather causes fires. 53 fires were registered in Chechnya in January, caused by use of heating and gas equipment. Almost fires were started in private houses. Rizvan Zalayev, deputy head of the Department for Surveillance of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies in Chechnya, said that one man died and one was injured in a fire.
