Airports of Anapa, Gelendzhik and Sochi remain closed for third day

Airports in Anapa, Gelendzhik and Sochi still cannot operate due to bad weather conditions, Basel Aero in Krasnodar Territory said, Interfax reports.

Chemicals may melt ice on the runways at temperature no lower than -11 C, the temperature in Gelendzhik dropped to -15 C. Weather forecasts say the airport in Gelendzhik would open no earlier than February 4.

The Sochi Airport stopped receiving aircraft on Tuesday night. A plane of UTair from Vnukovo had to land at an auxiliary airport in Krasnodar, a plane from Tashkent and another from Vnukovo had to land in Mineralniye Vody of the Stavropol Territory. Planes started landing in Sochi at 8.30 am, about 300 people were waiting for their departure by 10.30 am.

The Airport of Anapa was closed until 3 pm.
