Turkey clarifies rules for foreign residents

New rules for foreign residence in Turkey have come into force today. Foreigners are to leave the state 90 days after their arrival. They may return in three months, Georgia Online reports.

Minister for Labour and Social Protection Faruk Celik made clarifications. He said that people looking after the elderly or working for families need to register and pay a fee of 1.5 liras. The minister noted that there is no official information on the number of people working in the sphere. He recommended them to file application forms in February and not wait until 90 days end.

The illegal hiring of a foreigner is punished with a fine of 6,795 liras. Foreigners working illegally are to be fined 679 liras.
