Baku is holding events related to the Year of Russian History. News Azerbaijan, Trend and Interfax-Azerbaijan are the leading information agencies to inform about the event. The History Department of Moscow State University, the Heydar Aliyev Fund and Vestnik Kavkaza are the initiators.
Alexey Vlasov, Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza and Deputy Dean of the History Department, said that the main goal is finding effective ways to preserve the historic space between Russia and Azerbaijan. Great and tragic events in history need open and impartial discussions.
The editor-in-chief noted that students of the History Department visited Baku on May 9, 2011. They had a chance to perform for veterans of war. He added that it is great to have people in Russia and Azerbaijan capable of giving a sense of common history to young people born after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Alexey Vlasov said that the first meeting of Russian scientists and journalists will be held at Trend. He thanked Ilgar Huseyngulu for support and attention to projects of Vestnik Kavkaza and the History Department of Moscow State University.
