Kazakh population and crime level increase in 2011

The population of Kazakhstan increased by 233,000 in 2011, News Kazakhstan reports.

The population reached 16,675,000 on January 1, 2012, compared with 16,442,000 on January 1, 2011. Thus, the population increased by 1.4%.

The number of criminals increased by 10,000 in January-December 2011, reaching 125 cases, compared with 81 in 2010.

83703 criminals were caught in 2011, dropping by 0.8% compared with 2010. 50869 were charged in 2011 (-9.3%, compared with 2010). 12.4% were female criminals (-12.6%), 7.6% were underaged (-7.2%), 1.9% were functionaries (-2.3%). The proportion was 8.9% (-7.6%).

One out of every six criminals was drunk while committing crimes, 25% of them were part of groups. 76.6% of crimes were committeed by unemployed (75% in 2010).
