Branch of Caucasus Emirate discovered

The law enforcers of the Ulyanovsk Region have revealed a branch of the Caucasus Emirate, a religious terrorist organization, RBC reports.

The branch was promoting radical religious views, spreading banned literature and recruiting new members. It consisted of over 20 people.

The police say that released members of the organization planned to arrive in North Caucasus to be involved in militant activities. They were financed by supporters of the organization and recently released members.

The law enforcers confiscated about 200 books in Arabic, Tatar and Russian languages. They found 40 notebooks with religious articles, 18 notepads, computers, disks, numerous units of printed and written religious materials, including instructions to train saboteurs.

A criminal case was initiated for setting an extremist organization.

The Caucasus Emirate is an international terrorist organization promoting religious ideas of extremism (Islamic Jihad), separatism and coup in Russia, to build an theocratic Islamic state. Ideology of the organization is based on Wahhabism and Jihad. The Russian Supreme Court banned the organization on February 8, 2010.
