Chechnya has started the Soul’s Call project. Pupils have written letters to militants urging them to return to peaceful life, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.
The initiative was organized by the governmental committee for youth affairs, the Ministry for Education and Science, the Grozny TV Company and administrations of cities and districts. Pupils of the Grozny Lyceé named after Nursultan Nazarbayev were the first to take part. Pupils of the Urus-Martanovsky and Achkhoy-Martanovsky Districts wrote letters to militants as well.
Islam Beltiyev, head of the section for cooperation with public unities of the GCYA, said that all the letters will be dropped in forested and mountainous areas from a helicopter in Chechnya.
The best letters will be read out by public TV and radio companies and published in media sources.
