Administration of Muslims of Chechnya declares its withdrawal from Coordinatin Center of Muslims of the Northern Caucasus

The Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Chechnya is abandoning the Coordination Centre of North Caucasian Muslims, because in the opinion of its leaders it is not performing its duties, RIA-Novosti South reports, referring to the SAM.


The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, at a meeting with Sultan Mirzayev, the head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Chechnya, on April 14 said that the religious leaders of the Northern Caucasus do not show adequate activity in combating extremism and Wahhabism. He added that representatives of the clergy, "having emerged in daily activities, have forgotten about the danger posed by Wahhabism and extremism."
