Central Russia flooded

As a result of melting snow, more than 500 homes have been flooded in
the central Russian region of Ryazan, emergency officials said on Saturday,
RIA-Novosti reports.
At least 1,179 people in the 803-year-old village of Kadam were affected by
the flooding, Ryazan's regional emergencies ministry said in a statement.
A state of emergency has been declared as flood waters continue to rise.
Five people have been evacuated.
According to Russian officials, several hundred towns were flooded in
central and southern Russia earlier this month. The emergency officials
said that 4,700 towns across the country may face floods in the coming
weeks.
