A blast occurred in the center of Damascus today, RIA Novosti reports.
A bomb went off at a street in the Sharia al-Thawra district. Some vehicles were destroyed by the blast.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported two explosions.
The current situation in Syria is comparatively peaceful, despite regular clashes between opposition and state forces. The sides agreed to sign a ceasefire agreement to stop hostilities on April 12.
The first group of UN observers arrived in Syria on April 15 to monitor the ceasefire. The UN Security Council approved sending 300 observers to Syria.
