Six out of every ten high school students in Turkey are exposed to violence daily, according to the most comprehensive study ever conducted on the issue by academics from Ankara University’s Faculty of Education, Hurriyet Daily News reports.
Half of students subject their classmates to violence, while 60.9 percent of students are subjected to violence every day. Another 28 percent have been subjected to violence at least once, while a mere 10 percent of the students surveyed indicated they had never been subjected to violence at all, according to the study.
The academics interviewed some 10,000 students from 12 different regions for the survey, which was conducted in collaboration with the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).
