Alexey Fomin, head of the Sary Bokter Border Post in the Alma Ata Region of Kazakhstan where 14 border guards died, has been arrested, spokesman of the Kazakh Prosecutor General’s Office Nurdaulet Suindikov said, RIA Novosti reports.
The Arkankergen Border Post was under Fomin’s supervision. It had a fire on May 30. 14 border guards and a local forester were found dead. Vladislav Chelakh, one of the border guards, was found alive on Tuesday. He admitted guilt for killing others on Thursday.
Fomin is accused of staying out of touch with the border post on May 28-30 and not searching for reasons for lack of communication.
