A worker was killed by collapsing scaffolds at the construction site of the new parliament in Kutaisi. Some media and Facebook reported about deaths at the construction area, ranging from three to dozens of workers killed. Kutaisi media say 20 people were injured, GRUZINFORM reports.
A spokesman of the construction company said that a 50-year old man died. Journalists are not allowed to the area and the hospital where the workers are being treated. Gubaz Sanikidze of the Georgian Dream opposition party is not allowed to the place.
President Mikheil Saakashvili said on Thursday that people responsible for construction should be punished.
The new Georgian parliament is being built at the place where the Memorial of WWII used to stand. The monument was blown up, killing a mother and her daughter.
