Sochi to fine those who refuse to restore houses for 2014 Olympic games

 

According to a new government decision Sochi residents who refuse to restore the facades of their houses will be fined, Gazeta.ru reports

The official website of the Sochi Olympic department reported on Monday that "some 7955 different sites must be modernized into a single architectural style by 2014."

Only less than 3000 property owners have given their consent to restore their houses in a unified way, they signed a special agreement.

"52% of those living in the Olympic zone in Sochi refuse to fulfill the demands of the city administration. They refuse to restore the facades and fences of their houses. Such property owners will soon be fined for breaching the redevelopment rules," the website reported.

The fines could vary from 1000 to 5000 rubles for private owners, from 15 000 to 30 000 rubles for officials, and from 50 000 to 200 000 for legal entities.
