Haemodialysis children’s center opened in Kabardino-Balkaria

The only haemodialysis children’s center in Kabardino-Balkaria opened
on the grounds of Clinic No1 in Nalchik, Interfax reports, citing the
local authorities.

Children with kidney failures had to be transported to Moscow for
treatment. Other similar centers nearby are in Rostov-on-Don and
Krasnodar. The head of the hospital, Nikolai Shogenov, said that their
center has two kidney machines and one multifiltering machine for
children with kidney failure.

21 kidney machines will cover the demand of the population for
treatment. The Minister of Healthcare in Kabardino-Balkaria, Vadim
Bitsuyev, said that with the opening of this center the region has
become Russia’s first region to fully cover the demand for
haemodialysis.

Kabardino-Balkaria currently has 150 patients needing haemodialysis.
Many people had to receive treatment outside the republic or wait
their turn.

The equipment was presented to the republic by the Department of
Presidential Affairs, at a cost of 1 million euros.
