"The disaster in Kuban has left no one unmoved. Thousands of people are giving to money those who have suffered and whatever they can - clothes, food, medicines. immediately after the tragedy the Red Cross created an account to help those who have suffered from the flooding in Krasnodar Territory. In just a few days it has received 284,742,537 rubles and 53 kopeks," a message reads.
Local broadcasters held a television and radio marathon to raise funds by text on Sunday.
7000 residential homes were flooded in the towns of Gelendzhik, Krymsk and Novorossiysk, as well as other settlements in the region. Gas, electricity and water supplies were affected, as well as rail and road transport. 171 people are known to have died, most of them in the Krymsk district.
