Russia is celebrating Youth Day today. This date was established on the order of the Russian president Boris Yeltsin on June 24th 1993. The initiators of the celebration were the Youth Committee of the Russian Federation and the National Council of Youth Organizations, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the 2002 census, Russian youth comprises 39.4 million people aged between 14 and 30 (i.e. more than 27% of the country's population). 40% of them are students.
