Suspected murderers of Mekhtiyev detained in Moscow

 

Two young people have been detained in Moscow as suspects of murder of Azerbaijani Muslim figure Metin Mekhtiyev, 1news.az reports.

Mekhtiyev’s wife Aida Askerova said that her husband wanted to go to the Bakhetle Shop on Tverskaya Street. He never went out without his iPhone and Vertu and wallet. There was a man in the shop picking on everyone.

Monitoring cameras show that the man left the shop right after Mekhtiyev. The Muslim official was followed by two men and two females. A witness named Alexandra said that she heard one of the men planning tosteal Mekhtiyev’s phone.

Mekhtiyev was killed on the night of April 10. His body was found near the Belorusskaya Subway Station at Vtoraya Brestskaya Street, 43. His Vertu and wallet were stolen, but the iPhone was left. Mekhtiyev was the head of the International Office of the Islamic Cultural Center of Russia, he was an expert on the Caucasus. The official was cooperating with the Russian Muslim Administration and the Russian Congress of Caucasus Peoples. He was also involved in business.
