Georgia mourns victims of 2008 war

Georgia is marking the anniversary of the Five-Day War of 2008. President Mikheil Saakashvili visited Dzever, Kitsnisi and Karaleti villages of the Shida-Kartli Region and described the challenges Georgia currently faces, Georgia Online reports.

Saakashvili said that the country plans to join the EU and NATO.

All flags in the country have been lowered for August 7-8. The Cathedral of Saint Trinity in Tbilisi will have a commemoration of the victims. The Center for Spiritual and Intellectual Development of Youth of the Patriarchy of the Georgian Orthodox Church will have a commemoration evening at 6 pm.

Tamriko Chokhonelidze, Merab Sepashvili, Mamuka Charkviani, Ia Kobakhidze, Sofo Nijaradze, Lexo Doreuli, Jarji Shukiauri and others will attend the process.
