Bus from Dagestan in serious accident in Stavropol Territory

Ten people were hospitalized after an accident involving a commercial bus in Stavropol Territory, one child was killed, RIA Novosti reports with reference to an employee of Budyonnovsk district hospital.

According to traffic police, on Friday at the 196-kilometer mark of the Kochubey-Zelenokumsk-Mineralnye Vody road, the driver of a Setra commercial bus with a Dagestani registration number veered off the roadway, resulting in the bus overturning.

The bus moved from the market in Pyatigorsk to Makhachkala. Traffic police reported that there were 14 people in the bus; one child was killed in the crash, and three people were hospitalized. In turn, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the region, there were 16 people in the bus, including two drivers and four children. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the region also reported that a child was killed and 11 people were injured. The accident occurred between 16.20 GMT to 17.00 GMT, according to different sources.

"After the examination of those injured, ten people were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity. They are being observed and treated,” the source reports.

Traffic police of the region allege that a failure of brake systems of the commercial bus was the cause of the accident. The circumstances and causes of the accident shall be established, the police are checking the information on what happened.
