Transcaucasian highway re-opened for traffic

The Transcaucasian highway connecting Russia and South Ossetia

has re-opened to traffic. The highway was closed because of mudslides,

ITAR-TASS reports.

As previously reported, this morning the State Commission for

Emergency Situations decided to close because of the landslide at the

65th km of the road near Devil's Bridge.

"Road crews completed the work and the highway was reopened at 18:00,"

the head of the press service of the Emergency Ministry of North Ossetia Julia Starchenko said.

At the same time, she warned that there could be new landslides. She

also noted that adverse weather conditions in the country will

continue, including  rain with hail and strong gusts of wind up to 18

meters per second.
