Azerbaijani oil workers are celebrating their professional holiday today.
The date was established by decree of the Azerbaijani President to honor the date of the signing of the "Contract of the Century" on the development of the richest oil deposits of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) field and has been celebrated every 20th of September since 2001, the Turan agency reports.
According to tradition, on the eve of this date in large structures of SOCAR (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) celebrations are held, and their entertainment program is crowned with the participation of Azerbaijani pop stars on Baku Boulevard, passing directly into the "Day of Petroleum." Today's concert starts at 5 pm.
According to some reports, SOCAR will award its employees with new apartments on the occasion of the professional holiday.
