Four militants of the gang of Muslim Gakayev have been eliminated in the mountains of southern Chechnya, according to the website of the Chechen government.
"In forested mountainous terrain in the Vedeno region a special operation was held from early morning to surround and destroy the gang of Gakayev, whose members were about to commit heinous crimes, according to operative information. The identities of two of the killed militants have been established as Beslan Kavtarashvili from Grozny and Sultan Munkiev from Khasavyurt" Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov claimed.
"Unfortunately, during the clashes two law-enforcement officers received injuries incompatible with life. They will posthumously be presented with state awards," he added.
In August, Kadyrov described the brothers Muslim and Hussein Gakayev as the possible organisers of an attack in Grozny on August 6, in which two explosions killed four people.
