The State Nature Reserve "Utrish" plans to create two plant nurseries, the Director of the Reserve, Alexander Krokhmal, told a press conference, YuGA.ru reports.
"Our agricultural regulations of forest management plans to provided an area of about one hectare. We have come to the conclusion that we will grow juniper, pistachio and possibly dwarf oak in the nursery " Krochmal said.
"Southern Federal District specialists are now working with us - soil scientists - we set them the task of identifying a place where climatic conditions can accomodate this nursery," he continued.
According to him, the trees planted in the nursery will then be replanted in places where these trees grew before, and where climatic conditions are appropriate for them.The head of the reserve said that a second area of work will be the creation of a nursery seedling population.
In addition, the reserve plans to create a nursery for turtles.
"Together with the research department, we want to build a nursery for turtles. It will also be located on the reserve," the deputy director of the Utrish reserve for Environmental Education, Oleg Chikhachev, noted.
The total area of the Utrish State Nature Reserve is 10 thousand hectares, of which 8.5 thousand are forested area. 2250 hectares are "red" pistachio and juniper species.
