Birth rate increases, death rate decreases in Russia

The Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Russia sees the development of the demographic situation in Russia optimistically, Interfax reports.

“The birth rate continues to grow, the death rate continues to fall,” the minister of labor, Maxim Topilin, said referring to the monitoring of the demographic situation in January-August 2012.

In August 2012 176.3 thousand babies were born; 3.2 thousand more than in August 2011. “It is the highest monthly result for all years of the demographic situation’s implementation,” the minister stated.
