Patriarch Kirill calls on Russians in Armenia to study Armenian language

Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill during his visit to Armenia called on the Russian diaspora in Yerevan to study the Armenian language and to take an active part in the life of Armenian society, Novosti-Armenia reports.

“I am calling on you to be active members of Armenian society, to make your contribution to its culture, to study the language so that nothing prevents you from actively participating in the country’s public life,” the head of the Russian Orthodox Church told hundreds of Russians gathered in and outside Yerevan’s main Russian Orthodox church.

According to the patriarch, Christian beliefs “are firmest basis for kind relations” between Armenia and the countries that are given guidance by Russian Orthodox Church.

“Historical experience of the mutual lives of the Russian and Armenian peoples indicates that first of all the common Christian value system has formed these good relations,” Patriarch Kirill said.
