Leader of Karachay-Cherkessia Rashid Temrezov issued 5 million rubles for pilgrims planning hajj to Mecca and Medina (Saudi Arabia), RIA Novosti reports.
About 400 Muslims of Karachay-Cherkessia plan to make hajj. Ibragim Katchiyev, Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Administration of Karachay-Cherkessia, said that 140 of them were sponsored.
The main group of pilgrims (218 people) will fly to Saudi Arabia on October 15-16. They will use air transport due to the complicated situation in Saudi Arabia.
Most of the pilgrims are making their first hajj. Rashid Temrezov provided financial aid for Muslims and Orthodox Christians this year.
