The Teheran Emruz paper of Iran says that the country lacked nurses. Gazanfar Mirzabeygi, head of the Council for Hospital Care, said that medics were migrating from Iran due to low wages.
Some neighbor states offered $2000 and one of the countries offered jobs for 30,000 Iranian nurses.
Mirzabeygi said that, according to international standards, each hospital bed needs at least two nurses. Iran has only one nurse per each.
Sadyka Salimi, Secretary of the Council for Nurses, said that about 40 nurses were leaving Iran every year and the situation became critical.
The lowest wage a nurse in Iran gets is about $380 a month. US, Canadian and Australian nurses get an average of $2500-4000.
