Russian Muslims have made the Eid al-Adha prayers today. It is marked on the 10th day of the Zul Hijjah month and is related to pilgrimage to Mecca.
Shamil Alyautdinov, an imam of the Moscow Memorial Mosque on the Poklonnaya Hill, said that sacrifices of animals meant that Allah did not need sacrifices of people. The meat and blood of animals were of importance to people, not Allah.
Meat is split into three parts: for the poor, relatives and for the home.
Moscow executives provided additional places for prayers. Besides the four mosques in Moscow, prayers will be made at the Luzhniki Olympic Complex the Luzhnetskaya Coast, the Izumrudny sports center in Yuzhnoye Butovo, at the park of the 60th Anniversary of October on the Kolomenskaya Street.
Muslimsin the Moscow Region will pray at two villages and 18 cities, including Balashikha, Kolomna, Mytishi, Naro-Fominsk, Podolsk, Sergiyev Posad, Solnechnogorsk, Shelkovo and Pushkino.
Prayers were made in Tatarstan, Bashkiria and other cities.
About 20 platforms for sacrifices were made. Rushan Abbyasov, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Council of Muftis and Chairman of the Muslim Administration of the region, said that meet was ordered at Halal shops.
Many give meat to the poor directly or using charity funds of Muslim communities.
Over 3000 police officers, soldiers and volunteers were mobilized to maintain order on the streets.
